Iran short 'AniMal' jumps at Belgium award

'AniMal' co-directed by Bahman and Bahram Ark wins best short film award at 2018 MOOOV Filmfest in Belgium.

The short flick depicts the story of a man who wants to pass the border illegally; so, he hunts a ram and decides to escape disguised as the animal.

The flick has so far gained several awards and nominations from prestigious international festivals, including the second prize of 2017 Cinéfondation Festival de Cannes.

Some other awards for the film include Best Director award of the Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival and the Best Short Film Award at International Izmir Short Film Festival held in Turkey.

MOOOV Film Festival features a wide variety of world cinema with relevant social themes such as empowerment of women, the effects of poverty or prejudice and ecological concerns.

The latest edition of the film event was held April 17-30, 2018.
